Elmira Police Charge Teen With Attempted Murder Of Infant

Police in Elmira say they've charged a 17-year-old girl with attempted murder in connection with an infant found in a plastic bag Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the child was found alive by neighbors investigating a suspicious noise.  The neighbors called 911 and administered aid until first responders arrived.  The child is listed in stable condition.  Police with help from the Chemung County DA's office interviewed persons of interest in the case and subsequently made an arrest.  The teen will be arraigned in Elmira City Court and remanded to the county jail.  The investigation into how and why it happened is continuing.
