The coach who led Syracuse football to its last undefeated record has passed away.Dick MacPherson has died at the age of 86, thirty years after guiding the Orange to an 11-0-1 record and a top 5 finish in the national polls.
Three more winning seasons followed that undefeated campaign and propelled MacPherson to the NFL, where he coached the New England Patriots for 2 years.
Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner has issued a statement saying "that Coach MacPherson was a legend in our community, a good father and a family man who believed in our community."
