Second Alligator Captured In Broome County

A second alligator has now been captured in Broome County.

Officials with the DEC were able to corral the gator that was found roaming around near Whitney Point and measures nearly four feet in length. It's near the same location where another alligator was captured last week.

The state is unsure how these gators made it to Whitney Point, but there is speculation that someone may have had the alligators as pets and they became to cumbersome to take care of and they were let go.

The gators now have a new home in the Animal Adventure Park in nearby Harpursville and will be on public display after a week-long quarantine.
