West Nile Virus Found In Cicero Mosquito Pool

Aedes aegypti

For the first time this summer, a mosquito pool in Cicero has tested positive for the West Nile Virus.

The county health department has been testing those pools of bugs around the Cicero swamp every few days this summer. They've now found signs of the West Nile virus in a pool located off East Taft Road. With this summers wet and warm weather, it allows mosquitoes to breed at a rapid pace.

The county health department is now urging everyone in that area to take precautions against getting bit, especially at dusk and dawn, when mosquito activity is at it's worst.
