NY Considering "Textalyzer" Technology

Police officers in New York State may soon be able to use software to test drivers' cell phones to see if they were texting while driving.

It's called the textalyzer tool which can be compared to a breathalyzer used for drinking and driving. Officers would be able to plug your phone into a computer and use software that will allow them to see the exact time drivers texted or opened an app but it won't let officers read texts.

Governor Cuomo has ordered the Traffic Safety Committee to work with legal experts to study the technology.
