Services Held for Victims of Fort Drum Soldiers' Rampage

Watertown / North Syracuse, N.Y. – Family and friends gather to mourn the victims of a rampage shooting in the North Country that claimed the lives of a mother and a State Trooper this weekend.

Mattydale native Nichole Walters and State Trooper Joel Davis were killed one week ago Sunday when an active duty Fort Drum Soldier killed his wife, Nichole, in a domestic dispute and then turn the gun on Trooper Davis who was responding to that call.

Thousands of people came out to Fort Drum to pay their respects for the late Trooper Davis who died last weekend responding to a domestic call in Jefferson County.  State Police say an estimated five-thousand members of the law enforcement community traveled to Fort Drum for Davis' funeral services with every State in the Union represented.

Calling Hours were held in North Syracuse Sunday for Mattydale native Nichole Walters.

Army Infantryman Justin Walters has pleaded not guilty to First and second-degree murder charges.
