Onondaga County is planning a major facelift for the War Memorial.
The county's facility committee med to discuss a plan to attract younger veterans, while making sure that the War Memorial is representative of all wars and conflicts. The committee also wants to improve the fan experience, including better bathrooms and a nicer scoreboard. Since the price tag for such renovations is steep, the county hopes to work with the Syracuse Crunch to help pay for it. The county hopes to extend the Crunch lease to 10 years to help spread the cost over time. The legislature has an August 1st vote to approve the upgrades.
