A Fort Drum soldier accused of killing a state trooper and his wife Sunday night apparently plotted years ago to shoot up his middle school.
A Michigan website is reporting that Justin Walters was 15 years old and a ninth grader at a school in Holland Michigan when he and another classmate were accused of compiling a death list and they planned to shoot other students in the school's cafeteria and then kill themselves.
Another classmate gave police a tip and Walters and another student were arrested in 1999. Walters eventually pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge.
That same year, Walters was also arrested after toppling more than 100 tombstones at a local cemetery. In that case, he pleaded guilty to a charge of destroying private property.
