Sylvan Beach has been closed today for swimming after dangerous levels of algae were found in Oneida Lake.The county health department says the popular swimming area has been closed because of high levels of blue-green algae.
That algae can make people sick and can be deadly to animals like dogs and cats.. For people it can cause, nausea, diarrhea and breathing difficulties. The county health department continues to take samples from the water everyday but the beach area remains open.
