A Herkimer County man has been charged with a hate crime after police say he threatened two minor with a hatchet.
Ilion Police say 40 year old William Buchanan of Frankfort has been charged in the case after cops say he threatened to harm two black minors with the handle of a hatchet while using derogatory language about their race.
Ilion Police wouldn't say what lead up to the encounter, but Buchanan has been charged with Menacing as a Hate Crime and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
