A big crackdown is coming for folks who visit Sylvan Beach. Some visitors say the beach itself has turned into Sodom and Gomorrah this summer.
In recent weeks beach visitors have been caught drinking, urinating in public, fighting and throwing garbage around. Village officials suspect there is drug use as well. Just today a Utica woman was arrested when she was caught smoking pot on the beach.
The village will now institute a zero tolerance police for alcohol on the beach and they've hired some local sheriffs deputies to patrol the beach and write tickets and make arrests. Village officials say they don't know why this season has brought all the wild behavior to town.
