Albany, N.Y. – With just days left in the state legislative season, area lawmakers are working on a bipartisan bill to create a grant program for flood recovery along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River.
The $90 million package includes $65 million to be shared by homeowners, businesses and local municipalities. $15 million would be used for flood mitigation, and $10 million would be for additional disaster relief.
The grant program is modeled after the state-wide grant programs implemented after storms Sandy, Irene, and Lee.
