Syracuse Child Rapist Sentenced

A Syracuse man has been sentenced today after investigators say he sexually abused a young girl over a period of years.

36 year old Robert Gannon was sentenced to ten years behind bars after pleading guilty in the case. Prosecutors say the rapes and abuse began in late 2009 and continued through February of this year. The abuse started when the victim was just nine years old and continued until she was 16.

The judge in the case could have sentenced Gannon to much more time, but said he didn't have a criminal record and didn't force his victim to testify.
