Syracuse & DeWitt Residents want action against Deer

DeWitt, N.Y. – The deer population on Syracuse's East Side and in DeWitt is out of control and a majority of residents who responded to a recent survey want sharpshooters to come in and thin the herd.

Officials say there's been quite a spike in deer-car collisions and that's sending insurance rates soaring, not to mention the health issues involved because deer are carriers of ticks.

Assemblywoman Pamela Hunter says her office is aware of the concerns and is looking into several options if culling the herd.
