Oneida County sheriffs Deputies have just released details of an incident at the county jail last week where a corrections officer was stabbed.

It occurred on Thursday when the officer opened the cell door of inmate John Crosby to give him some medication..Sheriff Rob Maciol says Crosby then stabbed the officer in the shoulder. The officer has recovered from his injuries after being taken to a Utica hospital.

Crosby has now been charged with Second Degree Assault. The sheriff says if the officer hadn't ducked during the attack he would have probably been stabbed in the face. The sheriff says the county jail was then placed on lock down after the incident.
