The Auburn Maximum is on lock down today after an inmate brawl. The brawl erupted Tuesday night in a recreation yard.
Corrections officers tried to break up the fist fight but were unsuccessful. As more inmates joined the brawl, officers were forced to toss a tear gas canister into the yard to disperse the inmates. Corrections officers later found a homemade ceramic weapons in the yard.
Metal detectors cannot detect ceramic items. The fight came after officers found a drone inside the prison and broke up an earlier fight involving a knife. No corrections officers were injured in the incident.
