State Lawmakers move to free aid for those along Lake Ontario

Albany, N.Y. - The State Senate worked quick Tuesday afternoon to pass new legislation to provide immediate financial relief for local towns, homeowners and businesses affected by widespread flooding from a rising Lake Ontario.

The bill makes emergency funds available to those along the lake shore within 48 hours. Previously, emergency aid would not be made available for 120 days.

It will now head to the State Assembly for a vote
