Madison Co., N.Y. - Droves of unhappy Madison County residents voiced their upset to legislators about a new bill that would ban plastic grocery bags in the county.
Many turned out for a public meeting, to speak against a move by the Madison County Department of Solid Waste to have disposable plastic grocery bags banned. They say plastic bags are a waste and are filling local landfills. Supporters say the ban would be better for the environment and reduce litter in the county.
If the bill is passed, Madison County would be the first county in Central New York to ban plastic grocery bags.
No date has been set yet to vote on the plastic bag ban
