A Utica man is behind bars after police say he was involved in a fight with an Oneida County Sheriffs Deputy.32 year old Ramel Sparrow is accused of starting a fight with another man in the lobby of the Oneida County Office building and that fight eventually spilled outside.
When a deputy arrived, Sparrow resisted, causing a serious arm injury to the officer. He then fled the scene. Police then learned that Sparrow was on parole and an arrested warrant was issued and Sparrow was taken into custody.He's now been charged with felony assault.
The sheriff says the deputy may be out of work for awhile to recover from his injury.
