An Albany-area woman will have quite a story to tell her kids. Kristi Koppenhafer of Gloversville went into labor over the weekend with her second child, who wasn't going to wait until they arrived at the hospital. Kristi was forced to give birth to her daughter Skylar on the side of the Thruway after her husband called the State Police for help.
Troopers pulled her into a grassy area off the highway and laid down a blanket for her. The baby was born quickly and was delivered into her father's hands. Kristi says two State Police officer seemed to be a little rattled because they had never assisted in a roadside birth before. Little Skylar Ann weighed in at seven pounds and four ounces and mom and baby are doing well..
