Syracuse's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is about to get a big makeover. After Easter Sunday Mass, the Cathedral on Columbus Circle will close so 12 million dollars worth of renovation work can begin.
Among the work slated to begin next week includes a new roof, new flooring, pews will be refurbished and the entire cathedral will get a new paint job.
Stone work outside the church will also be repaired. The money for the project was raised through donations. If all goes as planned, the work will be completed in September. The Cathedral downtown is now 131 years old.
