Planned Gondola System At State Fairgrounds Called " A Boondoggle"

Even though the state only has a temporary budget in place, 15 million dollars has been included in that budget for a proposed gondola system between the State Fairgrounds and the Lakeview Amphitheater.

Some are calling the gondola system and complete waste of tax dollars and a boondoggle. Among them is Onondaga County Republican Chairman Tom Dadey.

Dadey says, "I think the gondola out at the fairgrounds is a complete waste of taxpayers dollars. I think the state should be focused on other priorities like tax relief, cutti ng spending and helping to create an environment where jobs are created."

Dadey also pointed his finger at County Executive Joanie Mahoney for supporting what he calls a "boondoggle."

Under the plan, the gondola system would transport two thousand people an hour over Interstate 690 to the amphitheater.
