Assembly Speaker Relieved There Won't Be A Shutdown

New York State government is continuing to operate after lawmakers passed a budget extension. Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie says he's relieved there won't be a shutdown, following the expiration of the budget last Friday. Lawmakers voted Monday night to extend last year's budget to the end of May while they work out policy issues.  One major stumbling block has been Governor Cuomo's insistence on getting more teens covered under juvenile, rather than adult criminal laws.  The state comptroller says the budget battle will mean late paychecks this week for some state workers.
