Oneida County Man Was Not Cooking A Puppy For Dinner

Utica Police say a man who frightened hundreds of dog lovers on social media this week won't face any charges.

The man identified as Frank Brands was streaming on Facebook Live claiming he was about to cook a puppy for dinner. He even talked about how to prepare and season the dog meat for cooking. Utica Police were overwhelmed with calls from animal lovers, some from out of state, fearful he was about to cook a dog.

Police went to his home and seized what was left of the animal carcass he had there and sent it to Cornell University for testing. It turns out Brands was pulling a hoax and was cooking a lamb instead. Utica Police say they can't charge him with anything and the case is now closed.
