Southern Tier Boy Drowns In River

Authorities say a 7-year-old boy has died after he was pulled from an icy upstate New York river.The Press and Sun-Bulletin reports that emergency crews received a report of a child in the Susquehanna River around 5:50 p.m. Sunday in the town of Conklin, just south of Binghamton.

Firefighters spotted the child trapped under the ice and pulled him from the water. They administered CPR at the scene, then took the boy to UHS Wilson Medical Center in nearby Johnson City. 

Officials say Monday the boy has died. Officials say the boy had been in the water for about 15 to 20 minutes.
