Power Outage In Downtown Syracuse

There's been  large power outage in downtown Syracuse this afternoon. At least 15 hundred customers are affected after a fire erupted at a transformer on Temple Street.

Many downtown buildings are in the dark including the Oncenter, the Onondaga County Courthouse  and the Marriot Hotel. A job fair scheduled for the Oncenter this afternoon has now been postponed because of the outage. Street lights are also out in the downtown area.

The utility says crews are at the scene of the transformer fire trying to restore power, but no word on a time estimate for restoration.
