Syracuse, N.Y. – Central New York is now under significant and heavy snow and it is making road conditions difficult across the region.

In addition to school delays this morning, dozens of business have now closed because of the severe winter weather.

A travel ban is now in effect for all tractor trailers, including tandem trailers on the full length of the State Thruway, Route 81, and other state highways. The travel ban follows a statewide State of Emergency declared by Governor Andrew Cuomo across New York’s 62 counties.

Meanwhile, the Syracuse Men's Basketball Team's match-up against UNC Greensboro has been rescheduled to Wednesday night. The Orange were scheduled to play at the Dome tonight.

In Madison County a State of Emergency has also been declared. Beginning at 6 p.m. all travel will be banned in the county. All non-emergency personnel caught traveling after 6 p.m. could be arrested and prosecuted. Oneida and Cortland counties have also declared States of Emergency

A total of 15 inches is expected to fall through the night as part of the Nor’easter duping snow on parts of the North East. Roads will be snow packed and slippery on the ride home. Tomorrow expect a few more inches of lake-effect snow to fall during the morning commute.
