State Comptroller Accuses Kirville Woman of Fraud

A Kirkville woman is behind bars today, accused of stealing from the state after she concealed the death of her mother for years.Tammy Banack was indicted  today on multiple felonies after the State Comptrollers  office said she concealed her mothers death from state officials and stole 67 thousand dollars intended for her mother.

 Banack's mother Rosemary died seven years ago and state officials call the theft reprehensible. Banack is also facing separate charges after the state determined that she also stole 19 thousand dollars in welfare benefits from Onondaga County. If convicted, Banack could face 5 to 15 years in prison.
