Syracuse Mayor Releases Statement On Trump Speech

Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner released a statement following President Trump's first address to Congress on Monday.

“President Trump campaigned on the notion of ‘making America great again.’ Since taking office, he has done everything possible to eviscerate the dignity of the presidency and enact policies that hurt working Americans. The President inherited a positive trajectory for our country, which included more than 80 straight months of job growth and a record number of Americans with access to affordable healthcare. In the last month, the President has failed to articulate or propose an agenda for America’s cities, with strategic investments in critical infrastructure or policies which combat poverty. Instead, the administration has decided to focus on reckless, cruel, and unconstitutional executive actions which demean immigrants, refugees, the trans* community, and millions of other Americans. It is time they put the nonsense aside and get to work on the important issues affecting our communities. It is incumbent on our leaders in Congress to stand up for cities and against the destructive Trump agenda.”
