Fifth Times a Charm? Nicoletti announces Mayoral Bid

Syracuse, N.Y. - Joe Nicoletti is officially joining this year's race for Syracuse mayor.

Rumors that the city government veteran would be running for the position for the fifth time were finally confirmed yesterday in a YouTube video.

Nicoletti joins an already crowded field seeking the Democrat nomination to replace Mayor Stephanie Miner.

Three other Democrats – City Auditor Marty Masterpoll, Miner Staffer and Adviser Alex Maxwell, and perennial political hopeful Alfonso Davis – are also in the race. Republican Laura Lavine and independent Ben Walsh also announced they are running.

Nicoletti, who has spent the last several decades in politics, says poverty and neighborhood revitalization are his main focus.
