State Seeks Ban on Tobacco Discounts

Albany, N.Y. – State lawmakers are looking to ban tobacco discounts.

The State Senate put forward a bill to prohibit retailers from offering discounts or accepting coupons for cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes and most other types of tobacco.  This is modeled after a New York City law.

The bill won't affect products like nicotine gum and patches that are to help people quit smoking.
