No Vote This Year On Onondaga County Consolidation Plan

The Chairman of the Onondaga County Legislature says there's no way there's going to be a referendum this year to consolidate government across the county. A report issued last week by the so-called Consensus Commission called for the City of Syracuse to be dissolved along with other villages and towns to form one colossal county government.

Legislature Chairman Ryan McMahon says he's formed a committee to take a look at 49 of the 50 recommendations in the Consensus Report, but he says there will be no consolidation vote this year. McMahon says he and other legislature members oppose the Governor's proposal to mandate local consolidations. McMahon says a committee will be formed to study the recommendations offered by the commission.
