Key Player in Miner Admin. Announces Mayoral Bid

Syracuse, N.Y. - A key player in Mayor Stephanie Miner's Administration is tossing his hat in the ring to be the next Mayor of Syracuse.

Democrat Andrew Maxwell announced in a YouTube video today that he is seeking his party's nomination in the mayoral race this November.

Maxwell works on Miner's 'Innovation Team' which overseas many of her pet-projects.  Maxwell previously oversaw the Syracuse-Onondaga County Planning Agency. The position required a joint appointment by Mayor Miner and County Executive Joanie Mahoney.

The Democratic race is already tight.  City Auditor, and former Common Councilor and County Legislator Marty Masterpole announced his run last week. Alfonso Davis, who ran in a primary against Mayor Miner in 2009 and 2013, announced his candidacy in December.
