Hochul Forms Limo Safety Task Force On Anniversary Of Fatal Schoharie Crash

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Hochul today on the third anniversary of the tragic Schoharie limo crash announced the formation of Stretch Limousine Passenger Safety Task Force.

Hochul said some new members include Joan McDonald, Westchester County Director of Operations, Matthew Driscoll, former mayor of Syracuse and now Executive Director at New York State Thruway Authority, David Brown, President and CEO at Premiere Transportation, and Edward Stoppelmann, Co-owner of Red Oak Transportation.

They join the commissioners of the DMV and DOT and the Superintendent of State Police. Hochul directed the task force to immediately convene and agree on a timeline for completing its comprehensive study of safety measures.

A total of 20 people, including a SUNY Oswego professor, died in the October 6th Limo crash.

The limo owner took a plea-deal that allowed him to avoid any jail time earlier this year.
