DOT Looking Into Ways To Prevent Onondaga Lake Parkway Bridge Crashe

Liverpool, N.Y. - The state DOT is looking into ways to prevent future bridge crashes on the Onondaga Lake Parkway.

Officials say that the system installed in 2011 to deter tractor-trailers from slamming into the rail-bridge has not been as effective as they hoped. They say they are going to try and improve it as well as consider new ideas. Some of those ideas include lowering speed limits, lane reductions in certain areas and improvements to intersections. There have been several crashes into the railroad bridge in recent years.

The state is hoping to come up with a final plan that would be shared with the public later this year.
