Harmful Algae Blooms Found In Owasco Lake

Auburn, N.Y. - Harmful algae blooms are found in another Central New York lake.

The Cayuga County Health Department says they were recently discovered in Owasco Lake.  Officials are now working to keep potentially dangerous bacteria out of the drinking water.  So far, there's been no contamination reported.

The algae bloom the led to the shut down of Lourdes Camp wasn't toxic after all.

In recent weeks there has been a string of harmful and potentially toxic algae blooms cropping up Exposure to certain types of algae can lead to issues like nausea, eye irritation and breathing problems.
