Rail Traffic Set To Resume On Partially Collapsed Bridge

Syracuse, N.Y. - For the first time in weeks, train traffic will be rolling over a Syracuse bridge today.

Part of the sidewall of the bridge near West Onondaga and South Clinton Streets fell earlier this month.  No one was hurt when the two 30 ton pieces of a concrete came crashing down. But, a light pole and street sign nearby still need to be replaced.

Last week, Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh called out the Federal Railroad Administration for delaying the release of the complete inspection reports. He wants them to do a better job of inspecting and report more quickly what they find.

Officials are blaming the stretch of hot weather for the collapse.
