Syracuse police have identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred on Friday (April 17) in Syracuse. The victim, Terrance Lawrence Jr., a 20-year-old resident of Syracuse, tragically lost his life when his vehicle crashed into a vacant house on Finch Street. Emergency responders provided CPR at the scene before transporting him to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash took place at 134 Finch Street, where Lawrence's car collided with the side of a boarded-up house. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at a high speed before it went over the curb and hit the house. According to Syracuse.com, Lawrence was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted by firefighters.
Lawrence was a 2024 graduate of Fowler High School and a member of God’s Temple of Faith Ministries. His mother expressed her grief in a Facebook post, describing her son as precious and dearly missed. The church also mourned his passing, stating, "Terrance was a bright light with a soft heart, whose presence was felt and whose absence has left a void in our hearts as a church family."
In the wake of this tragedy, Lawrence's family and church have established a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses. As of now, the cause of the accident remains under investigation, with police awaiting the results of an accident reconstruction to determine any contributing factors.
