A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Lamar Sparks outside Destiny USA mall in Syracuse. The incident occurred last month, and Sparks succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to Upstate University Hospital.
According to the Syracuse Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance at 4 Destiny USA Drive, where Sparks was found with a gunshot wound. The police connected the disturbance to the shooting and launched an investigation. Multiple interviews and a citywide canvass led investigators to identify the 15-year-old suspect.
The teen was taken into custody with his attorney present and has been arraigned. He is currently held at the Hillbrook Detention Center. The suspect faces charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon—all felonies.
