Raising Cane's, a fast-growing national fast-food chain known for its chicken fingers, is planning to open its first location in Central New York. The proposed site is in DeWitt Town Center on Erie Boulevard East, where a Taco Bell currently stands. The plan involves demolishing the existing Taco Bell to construct a new 3,472-square-foot Raising Cane's restaurant, featuring a dual drive-thru.
The proposal has been submitted to the DeWitt Planning Board and is awaiting approval. If approved, this will mark the first Raising Cane's in Central New York, joining over 950 locations nationwide. The chain, founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been expanding rapidly since its first restaurant opened in 1996.
Raising Cane's is known for its signature Cane's Sauce, fried chicken fingers, and crinkle-cut fries. The proposed restaurant is expected to operate seven days a week and employ 13 people. The current Taco Bell is set to close once a new location opens on Bridge Street, anticipated this summer.
As the proposal moves through the approval process, Raising Cane's fans in the Syracuse area eagerly await the possibility of a new dining option.
