Onondaga County Sets Another COVID Case Record

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County continues to break COVID case records.

County Executive Ryan McMahon announced 2,230 new cases today. 90% of them are people ages 59 or younger. Currently the county has 9700 active cases.

There are 186 residents in the hospital with 31 in the ICU.

Sadly 3 more people died, a man in his 70's and two women, one in her 50's the other in her 60's.

McMahon said we will continue to see high case counts with omicron variant. He asked people to contact their Doctor if you get sick for therapeutics, and of course, stay home when sick, test and isolate, get the vaccine and booster and mask when indoors.

McMahon said the county will continue to get test kits out when they get them in.
