Data Pointing To Nursing Home Workers In CNY As Factor For Spread

Syracuse, N.Y. - We're learning more about the spread of the Coronavirus in Central New York Nursing Homes.

According to data shared with the State Health Department there were 545 confirmed and suspected coronavirus cases among Onondaga County nursing home workers in March, April and May.

The data supports a State Health Department report that concluded the virus was spread by workers were to blame for the deaths of many of those sickened by the Coronavirus in nursing homes, not the patients ordered into the facilities by the Governor.

Nursing Home residents account for a quarter of the all COVID-19 deaths in New York State. In Onondaga County, more than 40 percent of those that have died were in Nursing Homes.
