Onondaga County Travel Advisory

The New York State Thruway Authority Friday announced Vine Street in Liverpool will temporarily close beginning early Monday morning, June 25, 2018. The closure is part of the replacement of bridges carrying the NYS Thruway (I-90) over Vine Street and the CSX Railroad in Liverpool, Onondaga County.

Throughout this phase of construction, contractors will be removing the bridge carrying the Thruway over Vine Street. Built in 1946, the bridges are being replaced with 103-foot single span bridges that will feature safety upgrades including increased shoulder widths on I-90 and additional height clearance for vehicular traffic on Vine Street and CSX trains. The work is being completed in stages to maintain two travel lanes in each direction on the Thruway throughout the duration of the project.

The closure is expected to last approximately five weeks. All work is weather dependent.

During the scheduled closure, Vine Street will be closed to all traffic from Commerce Boulevard to Seventh Street. Variable Message Signs (VMS) and roadway signs will be posted along the detour route, which will direct drivers via Henry Clay Boulevard -- Electronics Parkway -- Old Liverpool Road – to Oswego Street.
