Man Arrested With Heroin And A Loaded Handgun

Police responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle Wednesday night around 6 o'clock. 

When police arrived at 608 First North Street they observed a gray Dodge Caravan in the parking lot and could see smoke coming from the vehicle and smelled the odor of marijuana. As they approached the vehicle, they observed it to be occupied by one male, Randall Driver, 29, of 701 Highland Street, Syracuse. 

Officers removed Driver from the vehicle and located a loaded Phoenix Arms HP22 .22 caliber semiautomatic handgun in his waistband.  Driver was taken into custody without incident.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located 232 glassine envelopes containing heroin, with an aggregate weight of over 9 grams, with a street value of $2,320. 

Driver was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second and Third Degrees, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third, Fourth and Seventh Degrees and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.  He was lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending his arraignment.
