Two men are seriously injured in a 2-car crash early Saturday morning in Herkimer County.
State police responded to the crash at around 2am on State Route 8 in the town of Russia and learned Cody Johnson of Poland was driving southbound on Route 8 when his truck crossed into the northbound lane and hit another pickup head on. Johnson's truck went off the shoulder of the road and caught fire. Johnson has serious burns to several parts of his body. Second driver Austin Dexter from Cold Brook has fractures and organ injuries.
Both drivers are hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Troop D's Collision Reconstruction Unit is working on the investigation.
