New York Group Wants "Supervised Injection Facilities" For Heroin Addicts

One New York group wants state taxpayers to foot the bill for what's known as supervised injection sites around the state.

It would allow heroin addict to shoot up in a safe space supervised by medical professionals so they won't overdose. The group known as Vocal New York claims it has the backing of healthcare professionals and public health experts.

The group says there have been 10 overdoses reported in Ithaca in a two-week span and more than 500,00 overdoses around the country since 2000. Vocal New York will hold a rally in Syracuse Thursday to seek support of these injection sites which are already up and running in Canada.
