Horse Dies From Eastern Equine Encephalitis In Madison County

Town of Sullivan, N.Y. - Madison County Health Department has been notified that a horse from the Town of Sullivan has died from the Eastern Equine Encephalitis or Triple E virus.

This is that County’s first Triple E detection this year.

They remind people there is no vaccine against EEE virus for people. Preventing mosquitos bites is the best way to protect from infection.

At this time, Madison County Public Health will not be spraying, however will be closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health.
