Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse Fire Chief Michael Monds has announced that the cause of the explosion that leveled a house on Carbone Street Tuesday, was caused by a free flowing natural gas leak from a pipe.
The pipe was in the back corner of the basement and was suppose to be attached to a dryer but wasn't. It also wasn't capped and the valve was wide open.
No criminal charges will be pursued in the case.
13 people were treated for injuries after the blast. Many are recovering or were treated and released from the hospital.
A 3-year-old remains in critically stable condition and a 2-year-old & 8-month-old are in critical condition.
