Schoharie, N.Y. - A limousine owner was sentenced today for the fatal crash in Schoharie that killed 20 people.
Nauman Hussain, owner of Prestige Limo company, was convicted earlier this month on 20 counts of 2nd-degree manslaughter, one for each victim of the October 2018 crash. One of those killed was a SUNY Oswego Professor.
Prosecutors said Hussain didn't do enough to ensure the vehicle was safe. His lawyer says is was the auto shop's fault for not doing repairs requested and Hussain wasn't aware the limo wasn't safe.
Several family members of the victims gave statements before the Judge handed down the sentence.
The judge today said Hussain will spend 5 to 15 years in prison.
