Syracuse, N.Y. - Attorneys for an 8-year-old boy who was detained by Syracuse Police after he stole a bag of chips from a store, are looking to sue.
The lawyers representing the boy and his father are seeking $15 million dollars from the city and the police department.
An edited piece of video of the officers interaction with the boy went viral, prompted some to be concerned. Police body camera footage later released in full and unedited showed officers putting the boy into a cruiser and bringing him to his father. The boy was never arrested and no charges were ever filed.
One of the lawyers for the boy called the SPD "A Nazi regime of police officers."
